Carlsberg UK is investing £13 million in a high-speed canning line at its Joshua Tetley brewery in Leeds, UK, creating 24 jobs. This will add to the 60,000 bottles-per-hour line currently being installed as a £10 million investment.

The canning line, which will have the capacity to produce 90,000 cans an hour, is due to come on line by early next year in time for the 2006 football World Cup. The Carlsberg brand is the fastest-growing take-home mainstream lager in the UK with sales surging by 63% in the last year.
