MD Foods has accepted an offer from Carlsberg A/S for buying Carlsbergís shares in the jointly owned Rynkeby Foods A/S.
This means that Rynkeby Foods as of today will be an 100% owned subsidiary of the MD Foods group.
The reason for Carlsbergís offer is that Carlsberg no longer regards juice to be one of the companyís key scopes while MD Foods with its production of juice several places abroad still regards juice to be a strategically important scope within the company.
Rynkeby Foods was founded in 1993 by a merger between Ripella A/S, owned by MD, and Rynkeby A/S, owned by Carlsberg, so the two shareholders each had 50% of the shares in the company which has an annual turnover of 570 mio DKK and 300 employees at the companies in Ringe and Rynkeby and thereby is the largest juice manufacturer in Denmark.
The chairman of the board of Rynkeby Foods Mr Ole Willemann, MD Foods, says that the takeover does not cause changes for the employees of the company just as production continues as before.
